PASTOR'S REPORT
Hieu Tran's first mass. His first mass has been postponed until he and Saint John Fisher can find a mutually convenient time. It will be a Sunday after the 5:00 p.m. mass.
25th Anniversary of Fr. Michael Grieco. His mother is still a member of Saint John Fisher. It will be Saturday, June 21, 2008 after the 5:00 p.m. mass, with a reception to follow.
Going away party for Fr. Artur. It will be on Sunday, June 29, 2008 after the 12:30 p.m. mass, with a reception at 1:30 p.m. A committee is being formed to plan the event. We need a volunteer from the Pastoral Council to be on the committee.
Update on Building Plan/Capital Campaign. A conditional use permit will probably be issued faster than expected. One requirement left is the silhouette poles that have to be up for only two weeks. They will be put in place during the end of May. The public hearing before the planning commission will be on June 24, 2008. The remodeling of the current annex into the new rectory will begin in the late summer. Grading of the site plan will be done during the summer of 2009.
The campaign now has $16 million in pledges toward a phase I budget of appx..
$17 million. We must have half of the cost of construction on deposit, before we can start. We have over $4 million presently. We've sent over $400,000 to Sagrado Corazon parish in Cudahy, as well as having paid may of the soft costs required for construction.
Ian Counts reported that the youth concert was very successful and raised appx. $2,000, which has been credited toward Campaign 21. This was a fine effort by the youth of our parish, and we are most grateful.
Christ Renews His Parish. The next meeting will be with Viktor. He is out of town at the present time.
Feedback on Pastor's Letter. A discussion ensued on what the parish could do to help. We watched about 10 minutes of the DVD of Cardinal Mahony's presentation to the leaders of the parishes of our deanery. This presentation was also given by the Cardinal to all the leaders of the archdiocese. It was suggested that the Cardinal Mahony DVD be played for the congregation some evening. The consensus was that it would be a good way to provide information, and to possibly lessen rumors.
PASTORAL PLAN FULFILLMENT COMMITTEE REPORT
The actions for 2007-08, for Community, Worship, Word and Service from the Pillars were covered.. Mike had to cut this a bit short as many of the involved people were not in attendance, and due to the lateness of the hour. This will be revisited in more detail at the next meeting. The goals for 2008-9 will be set at the June 2008 meeting.
The meeting adjourned to the Executive Session at approximately 9:45 P.M.
Respectfully submitted,
Teddy Sparrman
