Grant Hungerford, Music Director here at St. John Fisher received merit scholarships to attend USC BM, and the Manhattan School of Music MM. In 1983, having just returned from two years playing in the symphony in Caracas, Venezuela, David Potter, the previous SJF Music Director, hired Grant to play trumpet at a wedding and a relationship with St. John Fisher began. Grant began directing the Youth Choir in 1989 and became Music Director in 1995. Grant now personally directs the Contemporary Choir at 9 am Mass and the Youth Choir at 5 pm Mass. He oversees the other choirs and works closely with all matters musical at St. John Fisher. Whether he's meeting with a couple to plan their wedding, or planning a funeral with a family who is suffering the loss of a loved one, Grant cherishes being able to help provide musical support for the parish community. His other credits include Principal Trumpet with the Peninsula Symphony, and Lecturer, Trumpet, UCSB. He has played with every orchestra in the area including 13 years as a regular substitute in the Los Angeles Philharmonic. He has been recorded on movie soundtracks, commercials, and CD's, including playing on the "Double Fantasy" album with John Lennon.
